Woke up to a foggy morning today in Port Angeles, which is pretty normal this time of the year, and decided to hit the road and get a few miles in before breakfast, which I found about an hour down the road at The In Place in Forks, WA. I enjoyed a bacon waffle for breakfast with a side of hash browns. That’s literally three food groups in my diet. Life is good.
The road to Forks and beyond was beautiful, with skateboard quality asphalt and plenty of twists, turns and elevation changes. Despite the fog, the scenery was gorgeous with the smell of pine tress filling your senses.
Todays ride was a shorter one, as I was heading to the Salem area to see some friends that moved away from Tennessee before I moved away from Tennessee, but have stayed in touch with. They graciously offered me their guest room for the night. Lee and I always enjoy talking about motorcycles, science, religion, geography, people, etc. and Jeanne is a better host than Martha Stewart and a better cook than Julia Child so really, why wouldn’t I spend the night there?
It was truly a short visit and I hated that I had to leave so soon but at least we captured the moment.

As a gracious hostess, it was really nice of Jeanne to bend her knees in this photo so that Lee and I could look taller. Alas, all good things must come to an end and it was time to hit the road.
