Today was a good day to get a lot of little things done. Ralph needed to stick around the house for a variety of reasons, so we spent a good part of the day in the garage just tinkering with stuff. I worked on getting a heated jacket receptacle installed in a more permanent location, and Ralph worked on polishing another layer of paint off the bike. Seriously, I don’t know how he hasn’t worn a hole though the body panels yet. It’s like watching a weird crossover scene from Groundhog Day and Karate Kid. All day long, over and over again.. wax on.. wax off.. It’s a fitting description though as he has been a kind of mentor for me for many years. Never judging me, and aways there with great life advice. I consider myself fortunate to have him as a friend, and feel bad for people who don’t have their own Mr. Miyagi in their lives. Spending time in the garage with him all day was great.
I mentioned earlier in another post that I had a heated jacket liner for colder weather. Most motorcycles that have a heated gear connector usually have it installed so it kind of dangles somewhere near where the seat meets the gas tank. And after a while most people end up with a wire that starts to corrode from exposure, or has gotten crushed one too many times and fails. I decided to install a panel mount receptacle for my heated jacket, so it would be solid mounted and be able to better withstand the elements.

I know it looks like a standard BMW / Bosch / John Deere / Powerlet outlet, but under the cap is a 3.5mm coax receptacle. I’m quite happy with how it turned out, but I hope I don’t need to use it anytime soon.
