So I’m in the US tonight, on my way to western Canada and I cut under Lake Superior instead of over. The southern route is shorter, had better weather forecasted, and it would allow me to stop in at Aerostich and look at their riding apparel. I’ve been wearing a one piece Olympia and I am starting to like the one piece versus two.
Every time I enter the US with my Virgin Mobile phone I get a text message saying “Welcome to the US. Your Roam Sweet Roam package is now active”. In other words they just charged me the $12 daily fee to roam in the US. That would be okay if it actually worked, but it doesn’t. Usually I can successfully make one out of every 5 calls. The others don’t even dial out. So like I do every time I travel to the US I end up texting to Virgin Mobil’s Chat support, since I can’t use the phone for voice. Also to note, I have to find wifi since voice, data and text don’t work.
In total today I spent three hours with various Virgin Mobile tech support people who are all trying hard, but no solution yet. The latest tech support session resulted in a ticket being created for their specialists, to determine why my phone doesn’t work. Here’s the part that almost made my brain fly off the stem in rage…
<<<< Tech Support : Here is your ticket number: XXXXX. I will forward this ticket to an offline specialist who will validate the information prior to referring this case to our network team. It will appear as a Bell 1 800 number so please answer. >>>>
Wait, what? They are going to call me on my phone that doesn’t work? As I typed out “How” the chat session ended the way every chat session abruptly ends with Virgin.. “Sorry, the connection to the server has been lost”.
Added Pet Peeve — Virgin has disabled WIFI calling when you leave Canada… you know.. when you could actually use it, to force you to pay for their overpriced roaming plan.
Looks like after I leave Duluth I’m heading to Winnipeg to look at a new Rogers phone!
